बुद्ध धम्म में वे लक्षण हैं जो भविष्य के सार्वभौमिक धर्म में अपेक्षित है : यह वैयक्तिक ईशवर से परे है , हठधर्मिता और ईशवरवादी धर्म धाराणाओं से मुक्त है ; यह प्राकृतिक और आध्यात्मिक दोनों तत्वों को समावेशित करता है , यह सभी चीजों के अनुभव की धार्मिक भावना की अभिलाषा पर आधारित है , प्राकृतिक और आधात्मिक दोनों , एक अर्थपूर्ण एकत्व । यदि ऐसा कोई धर्म है जो आधुनिक वैज्ञानिक आवशयकताओं के साथ सुसंगत हो सकता है , तो वह बुद्ध धम्म ही होगा ।
