अफगानिस्तान में बुद्ध फिर ‘मुस्कराए’ हैं! अफगानिस्तान के बामियान में 14 साल पहले महात्मा बुद्ध की जिन दो विशाल मूर्तियों को तालिबान ने तबाह कर दिया था, ठीक उसी जगह एक बार फिर 3-D टेक्नीक से बुद्ध की वैसी ही मूर्तियां बनाई गईं। चीन के एक दंपती ने इस परियोजना को पूरा किया। दंपती ने काबुल के उत्तर-पश्चिम में 230 किलोमीटर पर स्थित हजराजात की बामियान घाटी में चट्टान की खाली गुफाओं में 3D लेजर लाइट प्रॉजेक्शन टेक्नीक का प्रयोग किया। दंपती जॉनसन यू और लियान हू छठी शताब्दी में बनाई गई दो प्रतिमाओं को ढहाए जाने से दुखी थे और उन्होंने इस परियोजना को पूरा करने का फैसला किया।
उन्होंने चट्टान में खाली गुफाओं में केवल एक रात के लिए प्रतिमाएं वापस लाने के लिए अफगान सरकार और यूनेस्को से अनुमति ली। सात जून को हुए इस समारोह मे प्रॉजेक्टरों की मदद से पूर्व की प्रतिमाओं के आकार की होलोग्राफिक प्रतिमाएं प्रदर्शित की गईं।
महात्मा बुद्ध की मूर्तियां 115 फीट और 174 फीट लंबी थीं और ये 1500 साल से ज्यादा समय तक खड़ी रहीं। मार्च 2001 में तालिबान ने इन्हें उड़ा दिया था। यूनेस्को ने इन्हें वर्ल्ड हेरिटेज साइट के तहत सूचीबद्ध किया हुआ था।

Chinese Duo Use 3D Technology to ‘Resurrect’ Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan
Kabul: Fourteen years after the Taliban blew up the world-famous Buddhas of Bamiyan, the giant statues were resurrected with 3D light projection technology in the empty cavities where they once stood.
The project is the initiative of a Chinese couple who used the technology to give new life to the statues in the cliff off the Bamiyan Valley by projecting Buddha's virtual images. The statues were located in Hazarajat, 230 kilometers northwest of Kabul.
The couple – Janson Yu and Liyan Hu – was saddened by the destruction of the two 16thcentury statues. They obtained permissions from Afghanistan and the UNESCO to bring the statues back for just one night.
The event, on June 7, saw projectors displaying huge holographic images of the exact size of the precious monuments that were damaged in the Taliban attacks. The display was accompanied by music.
"The projections were not widely publicized, but over 150 people came to see the spectacle. Crowds remained well into the night and some people played music while others looked on," a journalist who witnessed the show was quoted as saying by The Atlantic.
The statues of standing Buddhas – measuring 115 feet and 174 feet respectively – were carved out of sandstone cliffs. They survived for more than 1,500 years. But the Taliban blew them up in 2001, as part of its campaign to remove all non-Islamic art from Afghanistan.
The statues were among the most famous cultural landmarks of the region, and the site was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, along with the archaeological remains of the Bamiyan Valley.
